Website Design for creatives

For many years, my husband Paul and I ran a commercial photography and marketing business with clients ranging from artists and small business owners, to countywide festivals, destination marketing organisations and conservation groups. Part of my remit for many of my clients was to create and/or manage their websites and it’s part of the job that I really enjoyed. We have since closed the business in order to focus full-time on our fine art businesses (Paul’s work is here, if you would like to see) and I continue to manage both of our websites.
I still love to work with other creatives to help them develop an online presence, so if you would are interested in a new website, please read on!
How I work
I try to keep my approach as straightforward as possible so that we can focus on the important job of creating a website for your business that functions well and looks beautiful.
After your initial enquiry, I will follow up with some questions so we can look at the detail of your project and establish the design elements you would like for your website. We will discuss your branding and how users might use the site. It’s helpful for me to learn a bit about your business to ensure the best possible outcome for the design and functionality of your website, and we can do this by having a chat via Zoom/Skype or on the phone.
Together, we will then work out a timetable for your project, with completion dates for the various stages of your new website, and decide on a launch date.
I will keep you regularly updated with progress, and am always available to discuss any queries you may have, as we go along.
Keeping It Jargon-Free!
If you don’t know what wireframes are, or you haven’t a clue about SEO, UX, or CSS - don’t worry! Everything we discuss relating to your new website will be as jargon-free as possible. Although website design and development is a high-tech industry, and the language used can seem incomprehensible at times, it really doesn’t have to be.
Training
As part of our packages for designing websites, I include a training element for clients, which will enable you to take on the management of your website with confidence. On completion of the site, I will create a video showing you how to update the various elements of your website and to add pages, products and blogs. I will also include a segment on basic SEO, how to upload images etc. This digital recording will be yours to keep and refer to when needed.
Ongoing Website Management
If you prefer not to manage the website yourself, we can discuss the options for me to manage the site for you.
Payment
Following our initial discussions about what is needed for your site, I will supply you with a quote for the work. Once this has been agreed and a contract signed, 50% of the payment will be invoiced before commencement of the project, with the remainder due on completion.
Meetings Without Miles
I create bespoke websites for clients in Suffolk and the rest of the UK. As an environmentally-conscious business owner, I favour online meetings (Zoom / Skype) and telephone calls where possible. It’s an effective and efficient way of working, keeps costs down for you, and also helps us in our mission to keep our carbon footprint as low as possible.
PRICES
I offer two packages, both of which include training so that clients can maintain and manage their site independently (or I can manage the website, if preferred).
Blog/information websites, and full e-commerce sites - I deliver websites that both look great, and work well for my clients.
All websites are designed specifically for each of my clients and created using the Squarespace platform. I create bespoke websites for clients in Suffolk and the rest of the UK.
